National Children's Hospital
Our Hospital Outreach Program began in April, 2002, with Gerry Colomba, a five-year old boy from a depressed community in Fairview, Quezon City whom LIFT-B.A.B.I.E.S. helped to be admitted at the National Children's Hospital (NCH) along E. Rodriguez Sr. Ave., Quezon City due to severe malnutrition and pneumonia.
LIFT-B.A.B.I.E.S. sourced Gerry's medicines, milk, and a cash donation from PCSO and provided financial assistance and counseling to his mother, Cecilia. After two months at NCH, LIFT-B.A.B.I.E.S. provided Gerry, his older brother, Kiko, and mother with temporary lodging to ensure Gerry's recovery.
Since that time, LIFT-B.A.B.I.E.S. has worked closely with the Medical Social Services Department of the NCH to attend to the needs of indigent patients suffering from severe malnutrition, pneumonia, diarrhea, cancer, TB meningitis, severe burns, and other cases.
Through donations from pharmaceutical companies and civic-spirited citizens, our Hospital Outreach Program has been providing selected babies and children in the hospital's charity wards with medicines, milk, and financial assistance for CT scans and for buying much-needed blood.
Our Hospital Outreach Program provide snacks for the patients and their watchers at the NCH and at the Paranaque Community Hospital through the surplus pastries donated by the Starbucks coffee shops at RCBC headquarters and the 6788 Bldg along Ayala Ave. Makati and at BF Homes Paranaque.
Various family members collect these pastries from Tuesday to Saturday and distribute them to the patients every day.
In December 12, 2002, LIFT-B.A.B.I.E.S, at the request of the NCH's "Child Life Program," sponsored the annual Christmas party for the indigent patients at NCH and took charge of providing food for 400 patients and their watchers.
The foundation also presented a two-hour program participated in by the Maynilad Water Services Inc. choir, the Puppet Theater Group of the Philippine Information Agency and performances by noted gospel singers Rommel and Susan Guevarra of the Day By Day Ministries.
Prior to the Christmas Party, the foundation also sponsored the monthly party for indigent patients, complete with entertainment numbers and merienda.
